Writer-director Nicole Holofcener’s 1996 romantic comedy drama Walking and Talking stars Anne Heche, Catherine Keener, Todd Field, Liev Schreiber and Kevin Corrigan.

Lifelong best friends Amelia (Catherine Keener) and Laura (Anne Heche), both New Yorkers nearing 30, seek new relationships in this entertaining and truthful heartwarmer, with attractive performances.

Therapist Laura (Heche) is to wed her boyfriend Frank (Todd Field), but finds herself attracted to her patients. Amelia  (Keener) goes off men after video store clerk Bill (Kevin Corrigan) dumps her.

Debut director Holofcener provides many amusing, perceptive lines and a fragrant whiff of Manhattan lives and mores in an appealing picture. She wrote the script from her diaries when she was a New York single and her best pal was marrying.

Also in the cast are Randall Batinkoff, Joseph Siravo, Vincent Pastore and Allison Janney.

There’s a lively soundtrack from Billy Bragg, Yo La Tengo, Liz Phair, and The Sea and Cake.
