Vengeance ** (1968, Richard Harrison, Claudio Camaso, Spela Rozin, Werner Pochath, Paolo Gozlino) – Classic Movie Review 8841

‘FIVE MEN HELD THE BALANCE OF DEATH… …his revenge explodes in a blaze of hellfire!’

Director Anthony M Dawson’s fairly appetising 1968 Spaghetti Western Vengeance [Joko, Invoca Dio… e Muori] was shot in Almería, Andalucía, Spain. It stars Richard Harrison as Joko / Rocco Barrett, a hero on the vengeance trail against the five outlaw bandits (including Werner Pochath as Ricky / Kid, Lucio De Santis as Laredo, Goffredo [Fredy] Unger as Yuma and Luciano Pigozzi as Domingo) who have butchered his robber buddies (Alberto Dell’Acqua as Richie Barrett and Claudio Camaso as Professor Mendoza).

Meanwhile Joko is being trailed by a suspiciously mysterious Pinkerton detective called Lester (Paolo Gozlino).

Director Anthony M Dawson (Antonio Margheriti) provides the routine and violent thrills demanded by the popular sub-genre, with just a little bit of style, for an entertaining film.

Also in the cast are Allan Collins, Spela [Sheyla] Rozin, Guido Lollobrigida, Paulo Gozlino, Pedro Sanchez, Mariangela Giordano and Luciano Pigozzi.

An American DVD is available, also on streaming. The US and UK releases are dubbed.

Vengeance [Joko, Invoca Dio… e Muori] is directed by Anthony M Dawson, runs 99 minutes, is made by Super International Pictures and Arlington International Pictures, is released by Magna (1968) (Italy), Cinevision Films (1972) (US) and MGM-EMI (1973) (UK), is written by Antonio Margheriti (writer) and Renato Savino (story), is shot by Riccardo Pallottini, is produced by Renato Savino and Alfredo Leone, and is scored by Carlo Savina.
