Director Harold D Schuster’s modest but effective 1955 American black and white Western film The Return of Jack Slade [Texas Rose] stars John Ericson as Jack Slade Jr, Mari Blanchard as Texas Rose and Neville Brand as Harry Sutton, all giving strong performances.

John Ericson as Jack Slade Jr, who joins the side of the law to fight outlaws and infiltrates an outlaw gang as a wanted outlaw to try to redeem the wrong-doings of his lawman and man-hunter father Jack Slade.

Pinkerton detective Joseph Ryan (Howard Petrie) hires Jack Slade Jr to help wipe out a gang of outlaws and train robbers – Billy Wilcox (Max Showalter), Harry Sutton (Neville Brand) and Little Blue Raven (Michael Ross) – and their women – Texas Rose (Mari Blanchard), Polly Logan (Angie Dickinson) and Laughing Sam (Donna Drew).

Slade joins the gang and then vows revenge when his buddy Johnny Turner (Jon Shepodd) is shot down by Sutton, and sets a trap for the gang with Ryan’s help.

Also in the cast are Max Showalter as Billy Wilcox, Jon Shepodd as Johnny Turner, Howard Petrie as Joseph Ryan, John Dennis as Kid Stanley and Angie Dickinson as Polly Logan.
