One night, he has five encounters with very different clients. Though there’s a clear Exit sign, he can’t find the way out of the maze-like building.

Strapped is a provocative, challenging film, and, running fairly slowly, can be hard to watch. But it is intelligent, thoughtful and ultimately rewarding, tackling some uncomfortable issues and truths. It has a mesmerising, dream-like quality that’s oddly appealing. A mix of cocky, confused and bewildered, Benjamin Bonenfant is the right man for the job as the hustler out of his depth.
