Strange Affair [Une étrange affaire] *** (1981, Michel Piccoli, Gérard Lanvin, Nathalie Baye) – Classic Movie Review 8884

Michel Piccoli won the Silver Bear in Berlin for Best Actor in co-writer/ director Pierre Granier-Deferre’s nimbly acted, craftily written 1981 French social satire drama Strange Affair [Une étrange affaire] in 1982 and Natalie Baye won the César award for Best Supporting Actress.

Gérard Lanvin also stars as department store adman Louis Coline, who tries to keep up with his demanding wife Nina (Natalie Baye) and an equally demanding new boss Bernard Malair (Michel Piccoli).

Strange Affair [Une étrange affaire] is written by Christopher Frank, Pierre Granier-Deferre and Jean-Marc Roberts, based on the novel by Jean-Marc Roberts.

Also in the cast are Jean-Pierre Kalfon, Jean-François Balmer and Dominique Blanchar.
