Firewalker * (1986, Chuck Norris, Louis Gossett Jr, Melody Anderson) – Classic Movie Review 9505

The all too moderate 1986 effort Firewalker is a below-par vehicle for popular action star Chuck Norris, in which Patricia Goodwin (Melody Anderson) hires adventurer fortune hunters (Max Donigan) Norris and Leo Porter (Louis Gossett Jr) to find a hidden cache of ancient gold in an Aztec temple.

Director J Lee Thompson’s movie for Cannon Films is an Indiana Jones-influenced comedy adventure version of the usual Norris action violence that would be more welcome if Norris could show a flair for comedy.

It is further held back by some tacky sets, weak continuity and poor editing.

Also in the cast are John Rhys-Davies, Will Sampson, Sonny Landham, Ian Abercrombie and Richard Lee-Sung.

It is shot in Mexico, on location and at the Churubusco Studios, Mexico City.

Firewalker is directed by J Lee Thompson, runs 104 minutes, is made by Cannon Group, Golan-Globus Productions and Major Studio Partners, is released by Cannon Film Distributors (1986) (US), is written by Robert Gosnell, based on a story by Robert Gosnell, Jeffrey M Rosenbaum and Robert Gosnell, is shot by Álex Phillips Jr, is produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, is scored by Gary Chang, and is designed by José Rodríguez Granada.

Chuck Norris celebrated his 80th birthday on 10 born on 10in Ryan, Oklahoma. His most recent film is The Expendables 2 (2012).
