A less entertaining, rather slightly tired grand guignol horror comic second sequel to Darkman (1990) from director Bradford May, who also made Darkman II: The Return of Durant (1995).

This time Jeff Fahey stars as the drug-dealing crime lord Peter Rooker who sets out to deprive the hideously mutilated vigilante Darkman aka Dr Peyton Westlake (Arnold Vosloo) of his adrenalin-inducing formula that gives him his powers. Darkman has made the mistake of stealing a crate of cash from Rooker  to continue his experiments on synthetic skin.

The film’s own formula seems to lack full power and conviction this time round, and the result is a bit on the weary side. But some witty dialogue, good action and heartfelt drama certainly save it.

It also features Darlanne Fluegel as Dr Bridget Thorne, Roxann Dawson as Angela Rooker and Nigel Bennett as Nico.

It was filmed simultaneously with Darkman II: The Return of Durant between 15 November 1993 and 20 December 1993 in Ontario, Canada,  finally released direct-to-video on 20 August 1996.
