Blood Arrow * (1958, Scott Brady, Paul Richards, Phyllis Coates, Don Haggerty) – Classic Movie Review 12,077

Director Charles Marquis Warren’s 1958 20th Century Fox black and white and widescreen Western film Blood Arrow is written by Fred Freiberger, and stars Scott Brady, Paul Richards, Phyllis Coates, and Don Haggerty.

Phyllis Coates plays Bess Johnson, a Wyoming Territory Mormon woman who gets help from gunfighter scout Dan Kree (Scott Brady) and trapper Gabe (Don Haggerty) – and hindrance from greedy gambler Brill (Paul Richards) and Blackfeet chief Little Otter (Richard Gilden) – as she treks across dangerous Indian lands to deliver smallpox medicine. Brill is interested in both Bess and a Mormon secret gold mine.

Blood Arrow tells a bloodless, predictable tale, in a mediocre Western film that is unexcitingly acted and unthrillingly told.

Also in the cast are Rocky Shahan, Des Slattery, Bill McGraw, Patrick O’Moore, Jeanne Bates, Richard Gilden, John Dierkes, Diana Darrin, Des Slattery and William McGraw.

Blood Arrow is directed by Charles Marquis Warren, runs 75 minutes, is made and released by 20th Century Fox, is written by Fred Freiberger, is shot in black and white and Regalscope widescreen by Fleet Southcott, is produced by Robert W Stabler, and is scored by Raoul Kraushaar.
