Apache Ambush ** (1955, Bill Williams, Richard Jaeckel, Tex Ritter, Ray ‘Crash’ Corrigan, Alex Montoya, Movita) – Classic Movie Review 12,262

‘Apache fury rides the trail to Abilene!’ Apache Ambush (1955) stars Bill Williams.

Director Fred F Sears’s 1955 Columbia Pictures black and white movie Apache Ambush stars Bill Williams, Richard Jaeckel, Tex Ritter, Ray ‘Crash’ Corrigan, Alex Montoya and Movita.

It is an acceptable if familiar end of Civil War cavalry and Indians Western, in which soldiers driving Texas cattle to the north find a shipment of repeating rifles, sought by Mexican fanatic Joaquin Jironza (Alex Montoya).

It stars Bill Williams as Indian scout James Kingston, who fights soldiers, Mexican banditos and Indians on the warpath when he is picked by President Lincoln (James Griffith) to facilitate a cattle shipment from Texas to the north towards the end of the US Civil War.

Apache Ambush is only an ordinary action Western, but it is busy one, with some good actors, and it is topped off with an exciting, large-scale battle climax.

Also in the cast are Adelle August, Ray Teal, James Flavin, Don C Harvey, George Chandler, Harry Lauter, and Bill Hale.

It runs 68 minutes. It was released on August 24, 1955.

The story and screenplay are by David Lang.

The cast are Bill Williams as James Kingston, Richard Jaeckel as Lee Parker, Alex Montoya as Joaquin Jironza, Movita as Rosita, Adelle August as Ann Parker, Tex Ritter as Traegar, Ray Corrigan [Ray ‘Crash’ Corrigan] as Hank Calvin, Ray Teal as Sergeant Tim O’Roarke, Don G Harvey as Donald Tex McGuire, James Griffith as President Abraham Lincoln, James Flavin as Colonel Marshall, George Chandler as Chandler, Forrest Lewis as Sheriff Silas Parker, George Keymas as Tweedy, Chris Alcaide as Lt. Shaffin, Harry Lauter, and Bill Hale.

Bill Williams [Herman August Wilhelm Katt] married Barbara Hale on June 22, 1946, after meeting while filming West of the Pecos. They had two daughters, Jodi and Juanita, and a son, the actor William Katt.
