Director Michael Ritchie’s 1979 film An Almost Perfect Affair stars Keith Carradine, Monica Vitti, Raf Vallone and Christian De Sica, along with Dick Anthony Williams, Anna Maria Horsford, Katya Berger, Andy Ho and Henri Garcin.

Keith Carradine plays a young film producer who falls for the wife (Monica Vitti) of an Italian producer (Raf Valone).

Carradine and Vitti are appealing in this modest, rather unambitious romantic comedy, with an uneven script by Walter Bernstein and Don Petersen that is dimmed by too many dull moments.

But the bright performances, Ritchie’s amiable direction and the lively 70s Cannes Film Festival setting give it a certain interest.

Michael Ritchie as Bus Passenger (uncredited), Rona Barrett as Herself (uncredited), Roger Ebert as Himself, Sergio Leone, Farrah Fawcett, Marco Ferreri, Paul Mazursky as Himself, George Peppard, Rex Reed as Himself, Brooke Shields and Edy Williams all make personal guest appearances.

It flopped and Paramount Pictures quickly withdrew it from cinemas, but it has since been broadcast on TV and is now available on DVD.
