Shadow of Fear is an involved if hard-to-believe Sixties mystery time-passer, in which the MI5 is out to round up a spy ring and enlists a couple (Paul Maxwell, Clare Owen) prepared to help them by agreeing to be kidnap victims with a message for the British Secret Service.
Shadow of Fear is short and inoffensive minor thriller material, a humble support feature at just 60 minutes, yet boosted by professional handling and some solid acting, with John Arnatt, Eric Pohlmann, Reginald Marsh outstanding.
Ronald C Liles and James O’Connolly’s often effective script, with decent dialogue, is based on T F Fotherby’s novel Decoy, Be Damned.
