Kim Novak stars as an ageing chorus girl who has an affair with a delivery boy (Michael Brandon) when she realises her long-term relationship with a nightclub comedian (Tony Curtis) is going nowhere.

Director Peter Medak’s 1973 American TV drama movie The Third Girl from the Left stars Kim Novak, Tony Curtis, and Michael Brandon.

Kim Novak stars as Gloria, a middle-ageing chorus girl dancer who romances David, a much younger delivery boy (Michael Brandon), when her long-term relationship with an older nightclub comedian, Joey Jordan (Tony Curtis), has stalled.

Written by Dory Previn, The Third Girl from the Left is soapy but enjoyable, with the stars on vivacious form.

It is Novak’s first TV movie at the age of 40, though playing 36, after her film career petered out in 1969, and it is Curtis’s TV film debut too.

The title track is written and performed by Dory Previn.

It is made by Playboy Films, with Hugh Hefner as executive producer.

It premiered on 16 October 1973 on ABC Movie of the Week.

Kim Novak and Tony Curtis later appeared together in the 1980 Agatha Christie film The Mirror Crack’d. Novak did a couple more TV movies: Satan’s Triangle (1975) and Malibu (1983).
