That Wonderful Urge **** (1948, Tyrone Power, Gene Tierney, Reginald Gardiner, Arleen Whelan, Lucile Watson, Gene Lockhart, Porter Hall) – Classic Movie Review 13,898

20th Century Fox’s 1948 black and white screwball romantic comedy film That Wonderful Urge stars Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney. it is a remake of the 1937 film Love Is News that also starred Power.

Director Robert B Sinclair’s 1948 20th Century Fox black and white screwball romantic comedy film That Wonderful Urge stars Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney, along with Reginald Gardiner, Arleen Whelan, Lucile Watson, Gene Lockhart, and Porter Hall.

Tyrone Power revisits his star role in the 1937 film Love Is News as an unpleasant, paparazzi-style newsman called Thomas Jefferson Tyler, who dogs socialite Sara Farley (Gene Tierney).

To thwart and embarrass him, after he persists in writing stories about her affairs, she announces that she is married him and makes him squirmingly newsworthy.

A smashing cast makes a lovely job of performing this extremely pleasant, very funny romantic comedy remake of the 1937 film Love Is News, based on the story by William R Lipman and Frederick Stephani. It is arguably better than the original, justifying a remake.

That Wonderful Urge is directed by Robert B Sinclair, runs 81 minutes, is made and released by 20th Century Fox, is written by Jay Dratler, is shot in black and white by Charles G Clarke, is produced by Fred Kohlmar, and is scored by Cyril F Mockridge.
