Director Nate Watt’s 1936 American Western film Trail Dust is written by Al Martin, and stars William Boyd, James Ellison, George ‘Gabby’ Hayes, Morris Ankrum, Gwynne Shipman, Britt Wood and Dick Dickson. It is the eighth of the record 66 Hopalong Cassidy movies.
Hoppy (Boyd), Johnny (Ellison) and Windy (Hayes) fight a malicious gang, led by Anderson (Morris Ankrum) and Wilson (Ted Adams), who join Hoppy’s cattle drive try to stop it from reaching the drought-stricken North.
It was released on 11 December 1936, by Paramount Pictures.
It is on a double feature DVD with Borderland (1937).
It is one of 54 Hopalong Cassidy feature films produced by Harry Sherman that were bought by William Boyd for US syndicated TV starting in 1948. Each film was cut to 54 minutes. Fifty years later, with the cooperation of Mrs Boyd, Grace Bradley, they were restored to their original length with their original opening and closing credits.
