Loretta Young stars in Wife, Doctor and Nurse (1937). Here she is in Cause for Alarm! (1951).

Director Walter Lang’s 1937 20th Century Fox American comedy film Wife, Doctor and Nurse stars Loretta Young, Warner Baxter and Virginia Bruce.

In the triangular love story of the title, Young is the Wife of Doctor Baxter, who is horrified to discover his Nurse Bruce is in love with him.

Wife, Doctor and Nurse is discreet, predictable and soapy. It is professionally crafted, but not very exciting and with scarcely enough story to fill half the fairly short running time of 85 minutes.

Also in the cast are Jane Darwell, Sidney Blackmer, Minna Gombell, Elisha Cook Jr, Paul Hurst, Spencer Charters, Lon Chaney Jr, Stanley Fields, Charles Judels, George Ernest and Georges Renavent.

It is followed up by Wife, Husband and Friend (1939) with Loretta Young and Warner Baxter.

Young was an active member of the Hollywood Republican Committee, with her close friends Irene Dunne, Ginger Rogers, William Holden, George Murphy, Fred Astaire, and John Wayne.

The cast are Loretta Young as Ina Heath Lewis, Warner Baxter as Doctor Judd Lewis, Virginia Bruce as Miss Stephens aka Steve, Jane Darwell as Mrs. Krueger, Sidney Blackmer as Dr. Therberg, Maurice Cass as Pompout, Minna Gombell as Constance, Margaret Irving as Mrs. Cunningham, Bill Elliott [Gordon Elliott] as Bruce Thomas, Lynn Bari, Elisha Cook Jr, Paul Hurst, Spencer Charters, Lon Chaney Jr, Stanley Fields, Charles Judels, George Ernest and Georges Renavent.
