Waxwork II: Lost in Time ** (1992, Zach Galligan, Alexander Godunov, Bruce Campbell) – Classic Movie Review 12,667

The 1992 American dark fantasy horror comedy film Waxwork II: Lost in Time is written and directed by Anthony Hickox as a sequel to his 1988 film Waxwork.

In writer/director Anthony Hickox’s diverting enough 1992 teenage horror movie sequel Waxwork II: Lost in Time, Zach Galligan (from Gremlins) makes a welcome return as the young hero from the 1988 original Waxwork.

It picks up where the previous film left off. Zach Galligan again plays Mark Loftmore, who speeds on a time-travelling trip, and encounters famous monsters of movieland.

Director-writer Anthony Hickox manages a pretty amusing chiller in a crowded market. Alexander Godunov (as Scarabis) and Bruce Campbell (as John Loftmore) also star. Patrick Macnee returns from the original as Sir Wilfred. Martin Kemp plays Baron Von Frankenstein, John Ireland plays King Arthur and David Carradine plays The Beggar.

The cast are Zach Galligan as Mark Loftmore, Monika Schnarre as Sarah Brightman, Martin Kemp as Baron Von Frankenstein, Bruce Campbell as John Loftmore, Michael Des Barres as George, Jim Metzler as Roger, Sophie Ward as Elenore, Marina Sirtis as Gloria, Billy Kane as Nigel, Joe Baker as The Peasant, Juliet Mills as the Defence Lawyer, John Ireland as King Arthur, Patrick Macnee as Sir Wilfred, David Carradine as The Beggar, and Alexander Godunov as Scarabis.

Anthony Hickox died on 9 October 2023 at the age of 64. The iconic horror director was prolific in the 1980s and 1990s, creating films such as Waxwork (1988), Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1991), Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992), Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat (1989), Warlock: The Armageddon (1993) and Full Eclipse (1993). It is reported that he was found dead in his home in Bucharest, Romania, by police.

Anthony Hickox (30 January 1959 – 9 October 2023) was the eldest son of film director Douglas Hickox and Academy Award-winning film editor Anne V Coates.
