Director Maria Ripoli’s 2001 romantic comedy drama Tortilla Soup stars Hector Elizondo, who is first rate as retired master chef Martin Naranjo, a cooking-buff Mexican-American widower, living with his three daughters Leticia, Carmen and Maribel (Elizabeth Peña, Jaqueline Obradors, Tamara Mello), who surprises them all by falling for a vivacious divorcée, in this tasty and appetising American remake of Ang Lee’s 1994 comedy Eat Drink Man Woman.

There is also welcome room for Raquel Welch to make her mark as a well-preserved widow, Hortensia, who takes a shine to Elizondo and his cooking.

Also in the cast are Constance Marie, Nikolai Kinski, Paul Rodriguez, Judy Ann Herrera, Troy Ruptash, Ken Marino, Marisabel García and Julio Oscar Mechoso.
