Cinema release poster.

Producer/ director W Lee Wilder’s 1946 Republic Pictures American black and white film noir crime thriller The Glass Alibi is written by Mindret Lord, and stars Paul Kelly, Douglas Fowley, Anne Gwynne, and Maris Wrixon.

A wicked newsman-trickster, Joe Eykner (Douglas Fowley), weds an apparently dying wealthy woman, Santa Monica widow Linda Vale (Maris Wrixon), waiting for her to die.

But when this doesn’t happen on cue, and instead Linda’s condition appears to be improving rapidly, he and his Mob moll girlfriend, Belle Martin (Anne Gwynne, have to try to plot a perfect murder. But homicide police detective Max Anderson (Paul Kelly) is soon on the case.

It is familiar territory, maybe, but W Lee Wilder delivers a nice, tense, well-plotted little B-movie thriller.

It runs 70 minutes.
