The Courier ** (2019, Olga Kurylenko, Gary Oldman, Dermot Mulroney, William Moseley, Amit Shah) – Movie Review

Director Zackary Adler’s 2019 action thriller film The Courier stars Olga Kurylenko as a London courier who finds one of her packages is a bomb. It also stars Gary Oldman, Amit Shah, Alicia Agneson, William Moseley and Dermot Mulroney.

It is written by Zackary Adler (story and screenplay), James Edward Barker (story and screenplay), Andy Conway (screenplay), Nicky Tate (screenplay), and Andrew Prendergast (story).

Olga Kurylenko and Amit Shah form a good double act as leather biker messenger chick The Courier and innocent bystander Nick Murch, who get much more than they bargained for when she finds one of her London delivery packages is a bomb.

The action is well staged, convincing and exciting, in co-writer/ director Zackary Adler’s basic thriller, made with pace and confidence but no frills. Slickly and effectively made on a tight budget, it certainly races along.

Gary Oldman (as Ezekiel Mannings), Dermot Mulroney (Special Agent Roberts), and William Moseley (Agent Bryant) play a series of particularly dodgy characters appropriately dodgily. It is entertaining as brain in neutral action fodder, but 2018 Best Actor Oscar winner Gary Oldman probably doesn’t feature it on his CV.

Also in the cast: Alicia Agneson as Agent Simmonds, Greg Orvis as The Sniper, Craig Conway as Agent Parlow, and Calli Taylor as Alys Mannings.

It was released in the US by Lionsgate on 22 November 2019 and in the UK by Signature Entertainment on 20 December 2019.

William Moseley came to fame when he was cast in the part of Peter Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). He trained at a gym in Brooklyn in preparation for filming The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008).
