Prehistoric Women * (1950, Laurette Luez, Allan Nixon, Joan Shawlee) – So Bad It’s Good Movie Review 6

1

Solely for mating purposes, and strictly with no fun permitted, sexy, men-hating prehistoric women try to find and capture the cavemen of their dreams in this camp, ridiculous and, arguably, so-bad-it’s-good 1950 fantasy flick. It’s co-written and directed by Gregg C Tallas.

Engor (Allan Nixon) is unfortunately one such man. But he evades the prehistoric women’s clutches and luckily in his travels discovers fire. Because, when he is recaptured by the women, he fights a monster with the help of his new discovery.

This makes the women realize their proper subservient position and Engor weds a repentant and now humble Tigri (Laurette Luez). The duo set off to start a new tribe of stone-age wearers.

David Vaile is the narrator, who among many other equally useful things, tells us helpfully: ‘And Engor called it Firee, which was his word for Fire.’

‘Savage! Primitive! Deadly!’ Yup, it surely is deadly alright. It’s perhaps not fair to laugh at it, but it’s the only way to go.

Here’s Laurette Luez as Lita Sebastian with Johnny Sheffield as jungle boy Bomba in Bomba and the African Treasure (1952).
