Ulli Lommel’s 1996 sci-fi film Orbit, aka Lethal Orbit, Vital Contact or Countdown to Disaster, stars Casper Van Dien, Jan-Michael Vincent, Ulli Lommel, Joe Estevez, and Tyler MacDuff, along with Christopher Mitchum, Bentley Mitchum and Carrie Mitchum.

New astronauts are despatched into orbit in space, which will prove lethal unless they can make vital contact with Earth, in this astonishingly bad, really cheap-looking sci-fi film, with an incoherent story, dreadful special effects and home-movie-style film-making. Orbit is very hard to watch, and even more difficult to make any sense of, as the story is cross-cut with court scenes probing the spaceshot.

A just pre-Starship Troopers Casper Van Dien somehow appears to look very different back in 1996.

It is also known as Lethal Orbit, Vital Contact, and Countdown to Disaster.

Orbit is directed by Ulli Lommel, runs 90 minutes, is made by US Multimedia, is written by Budd Garrison, is shot by Bruce Schermer, is produced by Ulli Lommel and Shyane White, and is scored by Robert J Walsh.

Casper Van Dien was married to Carrie Mitchum at the time (1993 – 1997) (divorced, two children).
