The 1940 American Western film Lucky Cisco Kid is Cesar Romero’s third time lucky outing as Cisco.

The 1940 American Western film Lucky Cisco Kid is Cesar Romero’s third time lucky outing as Cisco, who chases the gang of cattle rustlers, led by Judge McQuade (Willard Robertson), who are impersonating him and blaming the crimes on him.
Lots of action, a stalwart turn from Romero and the good supporting cast put this above-par for the Cisco series. Chris-Pin Martin is back in his regular role as Gordito and Evelyn Venable plays Emily Lawrence, the widow Cisco sets his eyes on.
The screenplay by Robert Ellis and Helen Logan is based on a story by Julian Johnson.

The Cisco Kid and the Lady (1939) is the first of Romero’s six Cisco Kid roles, followed by Viva Cisco Kid (released on April 12, 1940), Lucky Cisco Kid (released on June 23, 1940), The Gay Caballero (released on October 4, 1940), Romance of the Rio Grande (1941) and Ride on Vaquero (1941). Then, after World War Two, the series resumed, but Duncan Renaldo took over for The Cisco Kid Returns (1945), In Old New Mexico (1945), and South of the Rio Grande (1945).
Lucky Cisco Kid is directed by H Bruce Humberstone, runs 67 minutes, is made and released by 20th Century Fox, is written by Robert Ellis and Helen Logan, based on a story by Julian Johnson, is shot by Lucien N Andriot, is produced by Sol M Wurtzel, and is scored by Cyril J Mockridge.
