The 2000 French TV drama film Juste une question d’amour [Just a Question of Love] follows the romance of two young gay men, who are having a conflict over whether Laurent should come out to his parents.

Cyrille Thouvenin stars in director Christian Faure’s sweet and affecting 2000 French TV drama film Juste une question d’amour [Just a Question of Love] as young Laurent, who lives with his best friend Carole (Caroline Veyt) and falls in love with plant scientist Cédric (Stéphan Guérin-Tillié).

Laurent’s gay cousin has died from hepatitis and he is afraid to come out to his conservative parents he is gay, and he and Cédric are having a conflict over it.

Juste une question d’amour follows the story of the romance of the two young gay men, and is exceptionally warm and wise, nicely done and neatly acted. Above all it is thoroughly likeable, appealing and decent, and recommended.

It premiered on the French public national television channel France 2 on 26 January 2000 when it was watched by an extraordinary 6,300, 000 viewers, which is a 28.6 per cent share of the entire audience.

It is written by Pierre Pauquet, Christian Faure and Annick Larboulette.

The poster advertises it as ‘tender, touching and true’, and that’s exactly what it is.
