Ted Danson (married to Sean Young) and Isabella Rossellini (wed to William Petersen) are cousins-by-marriage and just good friends, but over a series of family weddings, funerals and christenings they find that they have fallen in love.

Cousins is a beguiling, witty adult romantic comedy with charismatic performances, especially by cunning performer Danson, Rossellini in a sweet role, and scene-stealing old Bridges as Danson’s uncle Vincent. The screenplay Stephen Metcalfe is based on the 1975 French hit Cousin Cousine.

Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini star as Larry Kozinski and Maria Hardy, who first meet at the wedding of Larry’s uncle Phil (George Coe) and Maria’s widowed mother Edie (Norma Aleandro). The new cousins-by-marriage begin talking as they realise that their respective spouses Tish (Sean Young) and Tom (William Petersen) are missing.

The score is composed by American composer Angelo Badalamenti (March 22, 1937 – December 11, 2022), best known for his scores for David Lynch’s Blue Velvet (1986), Twin Peaks (1990–1991; 2017), Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992), The Straight Story (1999), and Mulholland Drive (2001).

American film director, producer and screenwriter Joel Schumacher (August 29, 1939 – June 22, 2020) is famed for directing St Elmo’s Fire, The Lost Boys, The Client and Falling Down, Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997).
