Writer-director Terry Green’s 2001 American mystery comedy-drama film Almost Salinas is well realised by a good cast and very nicely done all round.

John Mahoney impresses as Max Harris, a diner owner who knows more than he is initially saying when a film crew arrives to make a movie about James Dean’s death at a nearby location.

A sleeper success, this independent film is a sweet little pleasure.

Also in the cast are Linda Emond, Lindsay Crouse, Virginia Madsen, Ian Gomez, Nathan Davis, Tom Greenwald, Ray Wise, Amanda Pitera, Glenn Dunk, Lucy Reeves, Adrian Neil, and Eric Wrye.
