Eve Knew Her Apples The 1945 musical comedy Eve Knew Her Apples remakes the 1934 classic It Happened One Night, and stars Ann Miller, William Wright and Robert Williams.

Radio singer Ann Miller falls for her Mr Wright – in this case reporter William Wright – on her holiday away from her agent. Miller knows her apples, certainly, but the script by E Elwin Moran, based on a story by Rian James, is pretty humdrum. If the plot sounds familiar, it’s because the film is a remake of e 1934 Oscar-winning classic It Happened One Night. That story plus four songs all in an hour!

It is remade again as Dick Powell’s 1956 musical comedy film You Can’t Run Away from It starring June Allyson and Jack Lemmon.

American actor William Wright (January 5, 1911 – January 19, 1949) was often compared to Clark Gable, and even plays Gable’s part in this 1945 musical comedy remake of It Happened One Night. He played the title role in Philo Vance Returns (1947) and the title role in King of the Gamblers (1948). He died from cancer in 1949, aged 38.
