Thunder over Arizona ** (1956, Skip Homeier, Kristine Miller, George Macready, and Wallace Ford Skip Homeier, Kristine Miller, George Macready, Wallace Ford) – Classic Movie Review 13,488

Joseph Kane’s capable 1956 Republic Pictures widescreen colour Western Thunder over Arizona stars Skip Homeier, Kristine Miller, George Macready and Wallace Ford.

Producer/ director Joseph Kane’s 1956 Republic Pictures widescreen colour Western Thunder over Arizona is written by Sloan Nibley, is shot by Bud Thackery and scored by R Dale Butts, and stars Skip Homeier, Kristine Miller, George Macready, and Wallace Ford.

When silver is found in Arizona, there’s no honour among thieves in this familiarly themed, but well cast and decent little Republic Western about a crooked landowner, capably directed by the cultish director Kane, with a good number of favourite stalwart Western character actors to relish.

It is attractively made in Trucolor and Naturama widescreen to combat the stay-at-home lure of TV Westerns. Trucolor was a colour movie process used and owned by the Consolidated Film Industries division of Republic Pictures and Naturama was a widescreen movie technique used by Republic Pictures during the 1950s. Republic used Trucolor mostly for Westerns, from Out California Way (1946) to Spoilers of the Forest (1957).

Also in the cast are Nacho Galindo, Gregory Walcott, Jack Elam, George Keymas, John Doucette, John Compton, Bob Swan [Robert Swan], Francis McDonald, Dan White, Fred Graham. Al Haskell, Chick Roberson, Pierre Watkin, and Hank Worden.

Thunder over Arizona runs 70 minutes.

It was released by Republic Pictures on August 4, 1956.
