The 1988 Roger Corman-produced film The Drifter is a tense, eerie, credible thriller about unattached fashion designer Julia Robbins (Kim Delaney) who gives a hitchhiker named Trey (Miles O’Keeffe) a lift, and lives to regret it, like everyone does in the movies. Is no good deed unpunished in cinema?
Julia and Trey have a one-night stand and late her boyfriend Arthur (Timothy Bottoms) is waiting for her at her apartment.
Kim Delaney and Timothy Bottoms are spot on, and writer-director Larry Brand manages to keep it robust, dynamic and smart looking.
Also in the cast are Al Shannon, Anna Garduno, Loren Haynes, and Larry Brand as Detective Morrison.
Larry Brand also co-wrote Backfire in 1987.
The Drifter is directed by Larry Brand, runs 95 minutes, is made by Concorde Pictures, is released by MGM/UA Home Entertainment, is written by Larry Brand, is shot by David Sperling, is produced by Roger Corman and scored by Rick Conrad.
