Return to Treasure Island ** (1954, Tab Hunter, Dawn Addams, Porter Hall) – Classic Movie Review 10,183

The 1954 modern-day American adventure film Return to Treasure Island stars beautiful people Tab Hunter and Dawn Addams, with Porter Hall in his last film.

Director Ewald André Dupont’s minor but pleasant and quite appealing 1954 Pathécolor modern-day American adventure film Return to Treasure Island concerns adventurers American academic Clive Stone (Tab Hunter) and Jim Hawkins’s descendant Jamie (Dawn Addams) exploring the desert island from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel Treasure Island, treating it as historical for the film’s plot.

Jamie is the present proprietor of the Admiral Ben Bow Inn. Jamie’s possessions include a map and a bible, which Clive believes are clues to hidden pirate treasure, which a man named Maxie (Porter Hall) is also after.

It is fairly ingeniously written by the film’s producers Jack Pollexfen and Aubrey Wisberg, providing a new riff on Stevenson’s frequently filmed novel.

The cast are Tab Hunter as Clive Stone, Dawn Addams as Jamesina ‘Jamie’ Hawkins, Porter Hall as Maximillian ‘Maxie’ Harris, James Seay as Felix Newman, Harry Lauter as Parker, William Cottrell as Cookie, Lane Chandler as Captain Cardigan, Henry Rowland as Williams, Dayton Lummis as Captain Flint, Robert Long as Long John Silver and Ken Terrell as Thompson.

Return to Treasure Island runs 75 minutes, is made by World Pictures, is released by United Artists, is written by Jack Pollexfen and Aubrey Wisberg, is shot in Pathécolor by William Bradford, produced by Jack Pollexfen and Aubrey Wisberg, and is scored by Paul Sawtell.
