Director David Fisher’s attractive 1982 romance Liar’s Moon is a slight though engaging soap opera starring Matt Dillon and Cindy Fisher as a poor boy (Dillon) and a wealthy girl (Fisher) who fall in love despite parental opposition, limited finances and the burden of a terrible secret.

The couple’s plight remains fascinating throughout thanks more to the charismatic performances by Dillon and Fisher plus the support than to director Fisher’s rather obvious screenplay, based on a story by Janice Thompson and Billy Hanna.

Interestingly, it was filmed with two different endings, both of which were released.

Also in the cast are Christopher Connelly, Hoyt Axton, Maggie Blye, Susan Tyrrell, Yvonne DeCarlo, Broderick Crawford, Molly McCarthy, Tiffany Stettner, Jim Greenleaf, Mark Atkins, Tonja Walker, Richard Moll, David Underwood, Clint Hughes, Pat Perkins, Ed Holmes, Lou Hancock, Tony Frank, Anne Belle, John Watkins and Barbara Jones.

Fisher went on to write and direct Toy Soldiers (1984) and produce Bat*21 (1988).
